Everyday after your breakfast at one of Haines fine
B&Bs, we take you to scenic places, where we study English using
local materials from the museum, visitor center, newspaper, etc. Your
teacher will talk about events in Haines or some of his experiences.
The time following lunch
is a time for activities and exploring. You are going to see and experience
Haines' beautiful nature and rich culture. You are encouraged to use
your English skills, and communicate with local people you will be
meeting. English in Alaska will seek to combine your
English learning experience with a rich experience in this fascinating
place which is surrounded by nature.
Using English in your everyday life, talking
with people that you meet, ordering meals at restaurants, and talking
with your hosts at a local B&B are all part of the important quality
of this tour.
Ed Hays is your main teacher
and guide. He has a decade of teaching experience in Japan
at a private English School as well as in a university.
Yuko Hays, a Japanese native, will assist
as needed for smooth communication throughout the week.
*This tour is designed to be 7 days, however
we will be happy to modify it to accommodate groups which have only 5
or 6 days. In this case, your group will have to omit one or two
days on the tour schedule. Your group can decide which day(s)
to omit. We will be happy to give you more information to assist
you in this decision.
*For tours shorter than 7 days, we will calculate
the tour price after your group decides which days they want to include.
*Tour price is based on 4-7 people.
For tours with less than 4 people, please contact us and we can
provide you with prices.
*There are many additional activities in the Haines
area which you may be interested in, such as ocean kayaking, river rafting,
fishing, golf, etc. If you tell us your interests we will try to include
your choices as optional activities. You can also make these choices
after arriving in Haines.
