About the Tour

After the winter snow melt, which usually occurs between late April and early May, long awaited spring comes rapidly to Haines.
The rain forest and fjord waters are both places for migrating birds returning from the south.  Following the herring, sea birds flock together at the beaches.  The sound of mating birds echo through the evergreen forests.
This is the only one of our tours where we take you to see the sea lions where they winter on the east side of Lynn Canal.  There are about 150 sea lions which spend the winter here, and are now almost ready to move out to islands in the open ocean where they will mate and have their young.  It is also at this time of year, that the King Salmon run is at its strongest.  You will have the chance to catch your own King Salmon while on this boat trip and we will have a barbecue on the beach!
You will appreciate the abundance of life and the energy it brings at this special time of year.
