The Chilkat River,
which runs through Haines, is the habitat for a large number of Bald
Eagles in the late fall and winter. They come to the Chilkat Valley to
feed on a late chum salmon run. We offer this Bald Eagle Viewing
Tour at the end of October, when the numbers of bald eagles are rapidly increasing.
This is also the time when we often receive the
first snow in Chilkat Valley. The scenery with snow on the mountains
and forests is beautiful at this time of year.
We take you to the Haines Bald Eagle Preserve where
you can view the eagles, and take great photos.
Also included with this tour is a tour of Haines and Juneau.
